Breaking News: Hair Dye increases risk of Breast Cancer in women, Study says
The risk of breast cancer infection is greater among African American
women, reaserchers found.
Reaserchers from the US National Institute of Environmental Health
Sciences and the University of
North Carolina Have revealed that some of the
ingredients used in « hair dyeing » may play a major role in the
development of breast cancer. This hypothesis was published Tuesday, December 3
in the International Journal of Cancer.
According to a statement posted on the website of the National
Institutes of Health, researchers interviewed 35 and 74 years old women with
sisters suffering from breast cancer and were, in fact, more likely to develop this deadly
disease. The participants indicated in particular their change of hair colors.
After analysing the results according to their health check, the
reaserchers found that more than half of the women surveyed had used 10% of the
permanent hair dyeing. Subsequently 2.749 breast cancers were detected.
Reaserchers discovered that the risk of developping breast cancer
among white women increased to 7%, whereas for Afro American women, the percentage
increased to 45%, which make them more
threatened.
However, the study found « little or no increase » in
breast cancer risk among women who used semi-permanent or temporary dyes.
